Sony A7R Mark III (ILCE-A7RM3A)
The Sony A7R Mark III (ILCE-A7RM3A) is the latest in a series of cameras where speed, resolution and video capabilities all coexist, the versatile, high-performance A7R III camera characterized not only by resolution, but also by its multimedia versatility. Revolving around a full-frame 42.4MP Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor and an updated BIONZ X image processor, the a7R III delivers an impressive 10 fps continuous shooting rate along with improved autofocus performance for faster, more reliable subject tracking along with frame coverage. wide. This updated Fast Hybrid AF system uses a combination of 399 phase-detection points and 425 contrast-detection areas for faster focus acquisition in a variety of lighting conditions, while also maintaining focus on subjects more effectively. In addition to speed and AF, processing improvements also help achieve greater image clarity throughout the sensitivity range from ISO 100-32000, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-102400. Video recording capabilities have also been enhanced for improved quality when shooting UHD 4K video with a full-width full-frame sensor, or when using Super35 area and 5K oversampling to minimize moiré and aliasing. Additionally, benefiting both stills and video operations, the a7R III retains 5-axis SteadyShot INSIDE sensor-shift image stabilization, which is now effective at minimizing the appearance of camera shake by up to 5.5 stops. which can further be expanded to ISO 50-102400. In addition to the imaging updates, the Sony A7R Mark III [ILCE-A7RM3A] also features a revised body design, which includes a 3.69m-dot Tru-Finder OLED electronic viewfinder for bright, clear, and realistic eye-level monitoring. A rear 3.0″ 1.44m-dot tilting touchscreen LCD is also available for intuitive control of settings and to better support working from high and low angles. For greater shooting flexibility, dual SD memory card slots, and the NP-FZ100's larger battery are also used to achieve up to approximately 530 shots per charge when using the viewfinder. Adapting to camera use in difficult conditions, the magnesium alloy chassis and extensive weather-sealing also make the a7R III dust and moisture resistant.
42.4 MP Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor and BIONZ X Image Processor
Featuring a back-illuminated design, the full-frame 42.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor works with the BIONZ X image processor to offer high-resolution stills and video while minimizing noise and increasing speed. This sensor structure works with a gapless on-chip lens design and anti-reflection coating, as well as eliminating the optical low-pass filter, to improve light gathering and improve detail. Additionally, copper wiring dramatically increases data transmission rates to create 42.4-megapixel high-resolution 14-bit stills with a native sensitivity range of ISO 100-32000, which can be further expanded to ISO 50-102400. Additionally, it enables internal UHD 4K video recording with wide dynamic range using the full width full-frame sensor.
The sensor and processor combination also provides fast continuous shootingt of up to 10 fps at full resolution, up to 76 consecutive frames, and with full-time AF/AE when working with a mechanical shutter or electronic shutter. When shooting in live view mode, a continuous shooting rate of up to 8 fps is also possible.
Additional Video Features
Support for HDR Content:
- Providing extensive customizable color and gamma controls, the a7R III allows users to adjust gamma, black level, knee, color level and more. Additionally, users can use the same S-Log2 Gamma Curve found on high-end Sony Cinema cameras that squeezes up to 1300% more dynamic range into the video signal than a traditional REC709, for increased post-production flexibility. HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) support is also available, along with the BT.2020 color space, for recording in a wide color gamut and, in addition to S-Log2, S-Log3 is also available to produce an effective 14 stops. dynamic range with increased grading control in the shadow area to the mid-tones of the image.
Slow & Quick Motion:
- Take more control over your video capture capabilities with the new frame rates available in S&Q mode. This will allow shooters to capture Full HD video at any one step between 1-120 fps. This setting will allow you to slow down the action as well as speed up slow-moving scenes. This setting is also NTSC/PAL switchable.
Enhanced Zebra Functions:
- The enhanced Zebra function is ideal for helping monitor exposure values in high-contrast scenes. The target video signal level can be set from 0 to 109, and a specific range can be set to make it easier to adjust the exposure level.
Time Code and User Bit Settings:
- time code can be used to record hours, minutes, seconds, frames of image data for more precise editing while the User Bit function can record date, time, and scene number to help edit joint footage from multiple cameras.
Proxy Recording:
- UHD 4K movies and lower-resolution proxy movies can be recorded simultaneously. Smaller proxy files are ideal for quick previewing or pre-editing which can reduce the time needed for final 4K editing.
Body Design and Built-In Wi-Fi/Bluetooth
- Features an updated Quad-VGA OLED Tru-Finder EVF, and has a 3.69m-dot resolution for bright, clear displays in high detail. The Standard and High quality settings can be used, depending on the shooting situation, to optimize the viewing experience. This updated viewfinder design also allows the use of autofocus in Focus Magnifier mode as well as increased focusing peaking to benefit manual focus operation.
- In addition to the EVF, a 3.0″ 1.44m-dot rear LCD is also available, which has a touch panel design for intuitive operation and focusing control. The screen can also be tilted up 107° and down 41° to work from high and low angles.
- The magnesium alloy chassis guarantees rigidity, durability and stability while remaining lightweight. The lens mount has also been upgraded to better support heavy lenses and the grip stiffness has been increased for a more comfortable hand hold.
- The durable shutter unit incorporates a coreless motor and brake system that reduces vibration for better control of shutter shock and extends its lifespan to approximately 500,000 actuations.
Pixel Shift Multi Shooting
This unique compositing mode allows you to achieve greater resolution than what the 42.4MP sensor can provide. Working in tandem with sensor-shift image stabilization, this mode shifts the sensor while making four consecutive exposures to acquire approximately 169.6MP of information for greater color accuracy and detail than is possible with a single exposure. These files can then be merged together during post-production using the rSony Imaging software suite.
